An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded Chapter #8 (The Master Strikes) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26 3/4" x 41" [68 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Three Musketeers, the 1933 Colbert Clark & Armand Schaefer Foreign Legion military action adventure serial ("A Modern Version"; "A Smashing Serial In 12 Thrilling Chapters"; loosely based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas) starring John Wayne, Ruth Hall, Jack Mulhall, Raymond Hatton, Ralph Bushman (billed as "Francis X. Bushman Jr."), Noah Beery Jr., Lon Chaney Jr. (billed under his given name of "Creighton Chaney"), and Robert Warwick. Note that this is a then-modern day version of the Dumas classic, with Mulhall, Hatton, and Bushman as the modern day Three Musketeers and John Wayne as the modern day D'Artagnan. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned two examples for this particular chapter in all our years of auctioning and the last time was in 2005! Note also that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 3/4" x 41" [68 x 104 cm]. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good. The poster has two evenly spaced vertical folds instead of the usual one. At some point it was printed it was backed on to a thin kraft paper backing, to better allow the poster to be passed from theater to theater, and it did a good job of that! The poster had separation at the left and right top crossfolds, including the one going through Wayne's face. At some point either before or after it was kraftbacked it acquired some faint purple stains in the top and bottom borders and scattered across the middle of the poster with some wear along the folds and pinholes around the edges. The poster is only fairly lightly attached to the kraft backing and at some point some amateur tried to remove it, but they caused some small tears and stopped. Any talented restorer could surely remove the poster from the kraftbacking and it quite possible the light purple stains could be removed chemically. After linenbacking by a talented professional the poster will look fantastic, but bear in mind the poster's defects and cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
