An Original Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 6 1/4" x 6 1/2"; 100 pages) (Learn More) Paramount Newsreel Men with Admiral Byrd in Little America: The story of Little America with pictures by Paramount Newsreel Cameramen and the story of their adventures, the 1934 novel by Wallace West, chronicling events involving Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd. Note that the following year, Paramount released their movie adaptation of this, and it was titled Into Little America: Capitol of the Unknown, the 1935 Frances March & Ewing Scott Antarctica penguin South Pole adventure documentary ("Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd's second great Antarctic expedition into 'Little America' Capitol of the Unknown"). Note that in 1930 Robert J. Flaherty & F.W. Murnau created a documentary called "With Byrd at the South Pole" and it was released by Paramount pictures. This movie was created 5 years later and was clearly a sequel to the first film, but this movie was directed by Frances March & Ewing Scott and documented Byrd's second trip to the South Pole in 1934 and it was also released by Paramount Pictures. Note that the posters for this movie have a very large "Little America" on them with a tiny "into" above it, so it is often incorrectly referred to as "Little America" (we have been guilty of this in the past!). If you have any other information for this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is very much like a "Big Little Book", except that it is shaped differently. Each page has text on the left and an illustration on the right, just like "Big Little Books" of the same time period. We have pictured the front cover, the title page, and two interior 2-page spreads. Note that on all hardcover books, the buyer must pay the actual cost of shipping (but if you solely buy books, or if you want the books shipped separately, they can be shipped in the U.S. only via "Media Mail", which is much less expensive than Priority Mail; unfortunately, there is no similar service outside the U.S. to Media Mail). So bear the above in mind before placing a bid on this book. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
