An Original Vintage Theatrical Uruguayan Movie Herald (measures 4 1/4" x 6" [11 x 15 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Upper World, the 1934 Roy Del Ruth romantic love triangle melodrama ("From the story by Ben Hecht"; about rich man who has an uncaring wife, and he starts an affair with a common beautiful young girl; the girl's boyfriend tries to get her to blackmail the rich man, and they end up both dead, with the rich man shooting the boyfriend who has shot his girlfriend, and the rich man is able to make it appear like a murder-suicide, but eventually, he is discovered to have been involved, and he is put on trial for murder, but he is acquitted, and he returns to his wife and son) starring Warren William, Mary Astor, Ginger Rogers, Andy Devine, Sidney Toler, and Dickie Moore. Note that Mary Astor played the rich man's wife and Ginger Rogers played his girlfriend. The movie "borrows" very heavily from Cynara, made just two years earlier with Ronald Colman and Kay Francis in the lead roles! Also, note that IMDB claims the title is the single word "Upperworld", but everything that we have seen has it as two words. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Please note that Uruguayan heralds, like Spanish heralds, were printed in large quantities, and then sent to individual theaters in Uruguay, and they would have the backs of them overprinted or stamped with their theater name and specific play dates. But because a movie might play in Uruguay for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Uruguay). We strongly suspect that most movies did not reach Uruguay until a year or two after their first release in other countries, but we can't say for certain. Therefore, we don't list the date overprinted on the back of a herald as the date of the herald (or the date of the movie's first release in Uruguay) unless we know from some other source that the later year was when the movie first played in Uruguay. If it is important to you that the date on the herald is the same date as when the movie first played in its country of origin, then please look at our image of the back of this herald to see if there is a different date printed on it.
