An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Cousin Kate, the 1921 Mrs. Sidney Drew silent family relationship romantic love triangle mistaken identity melodrama ("An elaborate adaptation of the famous Charles Frohman stage success."; "A Vitagraph Special Production"; about a woman in a romantic love triangle with an artist/nature worshiper and a minister; her concerned family calls in "Cousin Kate" to try to talk sense into her, but she ends up in a flirtation with the artist, but everything works out!) starring Alice Joyce (in the title role as Kate Curtis), Gilbert Emery, Beth Martin, Inez Shannon, Leslie Austin, and Freddie Verdi. Note that Mrs. Sidney Drew was the second wife of Sidney Drew, who was the brother of famed stage actor John Drew Jr., who never made any movies, and he was the uncle of John, Lionel, and Ethel Barrymore. The Barrymore siblings were told by their grandmother that he was adopted, but they felt that was not a true story, due to a great family resemblance. He started in movies around 1913, when he appeared in a number of "Jerry" comedies (about a man and his relatives), and he made a large number of movies until his passing in 1919, and once he was married, he often appeared with his wife as "Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew". After his first wife died in 1914, he quickly married again, this time to a woman less than half his age, named Lucille McVey. She quickly used her husband's connections to start producing, directing, and starring in comedy shorts, billed as "Mrs. Sidney Drew" (which the first Mrs. Drew had also been billed as). Sidney Drew passed away in 1919, and Mrs. Drew passed away six years later. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: fair. There is deterioration around the edges of the image. The theater that used this slide wrote the days the movie was playing in the play dates section at the bottom of the glass.
