A Folded German Exhibition Poster (measures 18 1/2" x 28" [47 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Nach Duisburg (literally translates to "To Duisburg"), the 1927 German poster encouraging people to travel to Duisburg, Germany for the 50th anniversary of the Gesellenvereine (Catholic journeyman association), which was held from July 16th to the 18th. The Gesellenvereine were German Roman Catholic societies set up in the nineteenth century with the goal of improving the religious, moral, and professional aspects of young workers. Note that this poster features a wonderful Art Deco design by Fritz Landwehr. This artist did one other highly sought after poster, "Durkopp Tyres" from 1923, and an example of it is in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Artist: Fritz Landwehr
Important Added Info: Note that our consignor tells us that he believes this is the only known example of this poster (and we have never auctioned it before)! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. The poster has creases at the left and right top crossfolds, with some faint stains scattered down the right vertical fold and some creases along the folds, with separation at the bottom of two of the vertical folds. The poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or after a simple linenbacking, it will look fantastic!
