eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5m0011 LOT OF 157 HELLO, FRISCO, HELLO KEYBOOK 8X10 STILLS 1943 director's personal candids! Date Sold 8/23/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 157 keybook 8x10 stills from Hello, Frisco, Hello. These 157 stills are from the "key set", and they were assembled by punching two holes in the left (or top) border of each, and using a metal bracket to connect all the stills through the two holes. There is a brown paper on the top of them that was connected to the bracket, but has become detached, and it says "HELLO, FRISCO, HELLO (key set)" on it. Because we did not want to disassemble the key book, we took some photos of some of the stills, but only a tiny fraction of the total number. Of course, the winner of this auction could disassemble the metal bracket and then they would have all 157 stills loose, because they are not attached in any way other than being held in place by the metal bracket. Each of the stills has an "approved" stamp on the back with various dates in November and December of 1942. Of course, Hello, Frisco, Hello is the 1943 H. Bruce Humberstone San Francisco California romantic musical comedy ("The most welcome musical romance of the year!"; "Produced by Milton Sperling 1st Lieutenant, U.S.M.C.R.") starring Alice Faye, John Payne, Jack Oakie, Lynn Bari, Laird Cregar, June Havoc, Ward Bond, and George Barbier. Note that this lot and 21 others we are currently auctioning, were owned by director H. Bruce Humberstone (nicknamed "Lucky"). He was born in 1901 and he started as a juvenile actor, and in his teens, he became a script clerk, and then worked his way up to being an assistant director to many top directors, including King Vidor. In 1932, he directed his first movie, and he worked steadily through the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, directing one last movie in 1961. He directed both "A" and "B" movies, including some Tarzan, Charlie Chan, Cisco Kid, and more, and some of his movies have cult status, including "I Wake Up Screaming"! The 22 lots we are currently auctioning include a large number of stills (many of them key books and some include lots of incredible candids showing Humberstone) from movies that he either directed or was the assistant director on, and there are also some non-still items as well, including his personal phone/address book, which had the phone numbers of all the top stars of that time! This is a rare opportunity to obtain large numbers of guaranteed original stills and other items from Humberstone movies that were the property of the man himself! Condition: very good. Most of the stills are in excellent condition, except for being attached, and they have minor edge wear. Around 20 of the stills at the bottom of the key book have their left and right borders partially folded over from how this was stored. And as noted above, the cover sheet is detached and has some paper loss. See our images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this key book. Learn More about condition grades Titles included:
