An Unfolded German Art Exhibition Poster (measures 23 1/4" x 33" [59 x 84 cm]) (Learn More)

Kampf Dem Krebs (literally translates to "Fight the Cancer"), the 1931 German poster encouraging people to visit the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum (German Hygiene Museum), and featuring art of a crab (the astrological symbol for Cancer, the fourth astrological sign in the Zodiac). "Krebs" in German can mean cancer or crabs, so this poster is playing on that by having a picture of a crab along with a tagline that says "fight the cancer". The poster also mentions "Thursdays just for women", so there was likely a female-oriented program at that time. The German Hygiene Museum is a medical museum in Dresden, Germany, It was founded in 1912 by Karl August Lingner, a Dresden businessman and manufacturer of hygiene products, as a permanent "public venue for healthcare education", following the first International Hygiene Exhibition in 1911. Today the museum owns an extensive collection of around 45,000 items documenting the public promotion of bodily awareness and healthy day-to-day behavior, mostly from the early 20th century and onward. It is one of the leading medical history museums and has the world's largest international Aids poster collection (with over 12,000 from 150 countries).
Artist: Kramer

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has clear tape on the back of the top border but is otherwise in nice condition!
