Frederick Richardson was an American illustrator from the 1890s to the 1930s. From 1892 on, if not earlier, Richardson made a living as a newspaper illustrator, working for the Chicago Daily News. He produced many pictures of the famous World's Columbian Exposition in 1893 and the Exposition Universelle Internationale, the world's fair of 1900. In 1903 Richardson moved to New York City to pursue book illustration and created illustrations for L. Frank Baum, Hans Christian Andersen, Aesop's Fables, Mother Goose, Pinocchio and more. He passed away in 1937 at the age of 75
Artist: Frederick Richardson
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is clearly an ad for something called "International", which was most likely a magazine, perhaps from the 1920s, or perhaps earlier. We were unable to find any information about this. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was folded across the middle. It had a few tears in the right border, with small stains in the lower left border and a piece of tape in the top of the left border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone mounted it on linen with no restoration and no excess. After it was backed, it was slightly roughly handled, and it acquired a slightly diagonal crease at the top of the image below the title.
