An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Herald (measures 6" x 8 1/4" [15 x 21 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More)

Die Rothschilds (released in English-speaking countries as "The Rothschilds"), the 1940 Erich Waschneck German World War II (WWII) anti-Semitism Nazi propaganda (about the Jewish banking family, and next to "Jud Suss" and "The Eternal Jew", this is the most notorious anti-Semitic movie the Nazis created!) starring Erich Ponto, Albert Lippert, Ludwig Linkmann, Hans Stiebner, and Bruno Hubner. Note that in 1938, Louis Rothschild, the brother who headed the Rothschild bank in Germany, was arrested and was only released when he agreed to turn over all the assets of their bank in Germany to the Nazis. Note that this is a "conditional" movie. This refers to around 40 movies that were made in Germany between 1933 and 1945, during the time the Nazis were in power in Germany. These movies are considered to be propaganda movies, which glorify the Nazi regime and their ideals. Immediately after World War II, a list of over 100 movies that were made between 1933 and 1945 was created, and those movies were not allowed to be shown at any time in Germany or Austria. Over the next decade, around 60 of those movies were taken off the list so that they are allowed to be shown (but rarely are), and those movies are known as "forbidden movies", because even though they can now be shown, they could not be shown at all in the years right after World War II. The remaining 40 or so movies (including this one) are known as "conditional" movies, because they are still not allowed to be shown in Germany or Austria, even in the present day, with the sole exception being when they are shown in an educational context, like at a university, and a speaker talks before and after the movie.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an incredibly rare German herald from World War II or earlier. Virtually none of these heralds survive from any movie, surely because of Germany's massive paper shortages during World War II! Note that this movie premiered on July 17, 1940 as "The Rothschilds", but was then withheld by the Reich Ministry of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda and only on July 2, 1941, with the new title "The Rothschilds: Shares in Waterloo", and this herald is from that 1941 release. Also note that this is a "country of origin" item for this German movie! Also note that this German herald measures 6" x 8 1/4" [15 x 21 cm].

Condition: good to very good.
