An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Delicious, the 1931 David Butler musical romantic love triangle immigration comedy (based on the story by Guy Bolton; with music by George Gershwin; about a pretty Irish immigrant traveling to the U.S.; while in steerage, she meets a Russian family with a young son who is a composer of popular songs, and she sneaks into first class and meets a rich American polo player, and after she arrives, she has trouble with immigration authorities, and she goes on the run, but continues her romance) starring Janet Gaynor, Charles Farrell, El Brendel, Paul Roulien, Lawrence O'Sullivan, and Virginia Cherrill NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning (and we have only auctioned some lobby cards and stills, as well as a partial jumbo window card, but no other posters for this movie)! This poster was never folded and it is fragile enough that it absolutely should not be rolled or attempted to be rolled. Therefore, it needs to be sent in a very large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30". Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: fair to good. The poster had a long uneven tear across the lower part of the image, extending into the the of the "D" of the title. It had a 10" tear in the middle of the left border and paper loss in the top right corner. It also had two vertical tears in the bottom of the poster extending up to the long tear. Someone put tape on the back of all of the above tears, but otherwise left the poster as is. It also has some smudges and stains scattered in the image. Obviously this extremely rare poster can be "rescued" by a talented restorer, but bear all of the above in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
