the 1980s double-bill release ("Homage to the Geisha"; "Intimate glimpses into the lives of the spirited independent women whose profession is entertaining Japanese men."; "Two Masterpieces by Mikio Naruse") of Bangiku (released in the U.S. as "Late Chrysanthemums"), the 1954 Mikio Naruse Japanese geisha melodrama starring Haruko Sugimura, Sadako Sawamura, and Chikako Hosokawa and Nagareru (released in the U.S. as "Flowing"), the 1956 Mikio Naruse Japanese geisha melodrama starring Kinuyo Tanaka, Isuzu Yamada, and Hideko Takamine.
