This was the first Swiss Sample Fair, and it was a national industrial exhibition which provided an overview of Switzerland's commercial and industrial output during World War I (WWI). More than 300,000 visitors attended the fair which had 831 exhibitors. Note that this poster features Burkhard Mangold's artistic representations of various trades. Mangold was a Swiss painter and graphic artist. Along with Emile Cardinaux and Otto Baumberger, he was one of the founding fathers of the celebrated Swiss poster art of the 20th century. Mangold was famous for combining the form of expression used by German art nouveau with the typically Swiss feel for clarity of form. Artist: Burkhard Mangold Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. There is a single tear in the upper right edge of the top panel of the poster which has been carefully repaired with restoration tape from the back. It otherwise has just a few tiny edge tears and some light creases but overall it is in excellent condition, especially given its age! Learn More about condition grades
