An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded German Movie Poster (measures 37 1/2" x 54 1/2") (Learn More)

Au bonheur des dames (literally translates to "The Happiness of Women"), the 1930 Julien Duvivier French silent small-business-vs-big-business family relationship melodrama (based on the novel of the same name by Emile Zola; about a pretty girl who moves from the provinces to the big city to work in her uncle's small textile shop; but a major department store has opened nearby, and is driving all the small businesses out, and she ultimately goes to work at the department store) starring Dita Parlo (she was a sexy German actress of the late 1920s who had great success in two French movies, "L'Atalante" in 1934 and "La Grande Illusion" in 1937; she came to the United States, and was going to be in Orson Welles' version of Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness", but that movie fell through; she is idolized by Madonna!), Ginette Maddie, Andree Brabant, Madame Barsac, and Nadia Sibirskaia. Note that when "You've Got Mail" was made in 1998, it was presented as a remake of the classic 1940 movie "The Shop Around the Corner", but actually writer Nora Ephron used only some of that movie, and merged it with this movie!. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Artist: A.M. Cay

Condition: very good to fine. The poster has some slight darkening around the edges and on the back of the parts of the foldlines that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded, but overall it has survived in really nice condition!
