An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 62 1/4" [120 x 158 cm]) (Learn More)

Westfront 1918 (also released as "Comrades of 1918"), the 1930 G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) German World War I (WWI) military anti-war melodrama (very similar to the classic "All Quiet on the Western Front" made the same year, and since this is a German movie, the movie focuses on German soldiers at the front in the closing days of the war, and the movie shows the futility of war just as well as the American movie) starring Fritz Kampers, Gustav Diessl, Jackie Monnier, Hanna Hoessrich, and Hans-Joachim Moebis. It is interesting that this movie was made in Germany in 1930, because just a few short years later, when Hitler seized power, there is no way that this movie could have been released there.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we can't say that this poster is certainly from 1930, because we have never seen it before, and we can't find another example of it on the Internet. But it DOES have the same image as what is on a German program we have seen, and it is oddly printed in 2 sections designed to overlap, which seems something that might have been done in 1930, but likely would not have been done in the 1940s or later (and the tagline at the bottom says it is a "sound and talking film", and that certainly does not seem like anything that would be on a poster from after 1930!). If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the uncertainty of exactly when it is from.

Condition: good to very good.
