4 Original Vintage Theatrical Russian (measure from 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" [11 x 14 cm] to 4 3/4" x 6" [12 x 15 cm]) Movie Stills (Learn More)

Polikushka, the 1922 Aleksandr Sanin silent Russian upper class/lower class financial melodrama (based on a story by Leo Tolstoy; about a poor Russian servant who has a large family and he works for a noblewoman; she wonders about his honesty, and as a test, she sends him on an errand carrying a large amount of money; will he be able to resist the temptation to steal it?) starring Ivan Moskvin, Vera Pashennaya, Yevgeniya Rayevskaya, Varvara Bulgakova, and Sergei Aidarov. Note that this film was completed in 1919 but distribution was delayed for three years until 1922 by the Russian Civil War. It is one of the best remembered and best regarded Russian movies made soon after the Russian Revolution!
Important Added Info: Note that these stills, which are "country of origin" stills for this Russian movie, are incredibly rare. There is almost nothing that survives from pre-World War II Russian movies, especially ones from movies like these, which were made right after the revolution. Each of the stills has a snipe glued to the back with information about the scene in French typed on it, so we would think these are "export" stills that were sent from Russia to France to be used when the movie was exhibited there. They also each have a copyright stamp from a German man named "John Graudenz" of Berlin, but of course, that stamp could have been added to each still at any later time.

Condition: very good. It appears the stills were created this size. They have a few faint creases but are otherwise in pretty nice condition.
