An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11 1/4" x 17 1/4" [29 x 44 cm]; 18 pages) (Learn More) The Case of the Howling Dog, the 1934 Alan Crosland courtroom lawyer legal crime mystery thriller ("Meet Perry Mason - A new Sherlock Holmes with a new kind of personality!"; "From the story by Erle Stanley Gardner") starring Warren William (as Perry Mason), Mary Astor, Helen Trenholme (as Della Street), Allen Jenkins, Grant Mitchell, and Helen Lowell. Note that Warner Bros. purchased the rights to these characters in 1934, and this was the historic very first movie in the long running series. There were three more Perry Mason movies that Warren William starred in. There were two other movies in the 1930s with other actors in the lead role (Ricardo Cortez and Donald Woods), and then of course, there was the classic TV show from 1957 to 1966 with Raymond Burr playing Perry Mason. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1934 movie paper of any kind from this historic first Perry Mason movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster or lobby card from this movie, but now that we have been consigned this wonderful pressbook, we now know what all the posters look like! Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Condition: fair to good, WITH CUTS. Two of the interior pages (page 9/10). The pressbook was folded across the middle. The covers are separated at the spine and the pages are fragile. There are stains scattered down the left of the back cover, and faint water stains in the bottom right of the back cover and the last ten interior pages. This pressbook has really significant defects, but the is unbelievably rare, and we have no idea where you would find another one! Learn More about condition grades
