An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28 1/4" x 40 1/4" [72 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

Ambrose's Rapid Rise, the 1916 Fred Hibbard silent cowboy western comedy short (produced by Mac Sennett) starring Mack Swain (in the title role as Ambrose), Louella Maxam, Tom Kennedy, and Bob Kortman. Note that Mack Swain originated the character of "Ambrose" while making movies for Mack Sennett (he had started working for Sennett in 1913), and several of them co-starred Chester Conklin as "Walrus" (named for his great mustache). Swain later took the Ambrose character to the L-KO Kompany, but he is certainly best remembered for his films with Charlie Chaplin, especially Chaplin's 1925 movie "The Gold Rush".

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1916 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28 1/4" x 40 1/4" [72 x 102 cm].

Condition: very good. The poster has separation in the bottom of the vertical fold and two minor tears in the right of the bottom border. It has a semi-circular tear in the lower left border that is entirely in the blank border. It has three small tears in the middle border that have a piece of conservation tape on the back. It has a 2" tear near the middle of the right border that once had yellowed tape on the back and now has conservation tape on the back. It has tiny paper loss and a pinhole in the right of the top blank border and two pinholes in the top left corner. It was once held to a frame with a small piece of tape on the back of each corner. All of the above are truly minor. This extremely rare poster could be displayed exactly as it is, or certainly, one could choose to have it restored (and it would require virtually no paint restoration).
