Date Sold 11/8/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Walking Dead, the 1936 Michael Curtiz horror fantasy murderer revenge melodrama ("He died a man with a hunger to love and returned a monster with an instinct to kill!"; "Karloff is coming from beyond the grave!"; about a man who is framed for a murder he didn't commit and is then executed, which would normally be "the end of the story", but in this case, a scientist invents a way to bring him back from the dead, and naturally, he wants to find those who framed him and get revenge!) starring Boris Karloff, Ricardo Cortez, Edmund Gwenn, Marguerite Churchill, Warren Hull, Addison Richards, Barton MacLane, Robert Strange, Paul Harvey, and Henry O'Neill NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Universal horror lobby cards from their top 1930s movies is extremely expensive. But the lobby cards from the three Warner Bros. early 1930s horror movies, The Mystery of the Wax Museum, Dr. X, and The Walking Dead, are FAR more rare than the Universal lobby cards! Why are these cards so rare? This is likely because there was a 1944 re-release, and likely the leftover 1936 movie paper was used up during that re-release. In all the years we have been auctioning, we have only previously auctioned one 1936 lobby card (the same exact card, which we auctioned twice), and now we are auctioning two different first release lobby cards! Also note that this card has a stamp on the back that indicates it came from the legendary "Cozy Theater" collection! Condition: fair to good. The card has many tiny pinholes and smudges around the edges, with a pinhole near the center of the card. Someone once drew a pencil outline around Karloff's figure, and someone later partially erased it (see our image). There is clear tape on the back of part of the right border and a tiny part of the top border, and the card is lightly rippled. Obviously, this card would be an excellent candidate for expert restoration. After restoration by a top professional, it will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image. Learn More about condition grades
