Did you know... that the artist who drew the iconic "Endless Summer" poster, John Van Hamersveld, has created a beautifully printed full-size 50th anniversary limited edition print and it is available NOW?

Back in 1966, the movie The Endless Summer was created by Bruce Brown, who had since 1958 made ten short movies celebrating surfing, mostly shown at colleges in auditoriums. But The Endless Summer was a feature length documentary that followed two surfers (Mike Hynson and Robert August) on a surfing trip around the world in search of the perfect wave, with a narration by Bruce Brown himself, and this wonderful movie resonated with moviegoers everywhere (most of whom surely had never surfed), and it was given worldwide distribution, and undoubtedly is still being shown all over the world!

The poster art for the movie was created by John Van Hamersveld, who created this now legendary poster in a most unusual way! Here's how Wikipedia describes the process:
"Van Hamersveld designed the iconic Endless Summer movie poster using a photograph. He arranged the shoot in January, 1964, after filmmaker Bruce Brown showed him the film's opening scene. He positioned Brown in the foreground with his surfboard on his head and the film's two stars between Brown and the setting sun. He had learned this technique at the Art Center School of Design in Pasadena where he took night classes. He converted the photo into an abstract design by reducing each color to a single tone and giving each image a single, hard edge."

There are three versions of the first release one-sheet that used this wonderful art. There is both a "regular" one-sheet and a similar "international style", and both use the Van Hamersveld art, but in only a portion of the available space. There is also an incredibly rare "day-glo" version which uses the Van Hamersveld art in a "full bleed"!

NOW, THE ARTIST AND HIS WIFE, ALIDA POST, HAVE CREATED A SPECIAL 50th ANNIVERSARY LIMITED PRINT EDITION, AND IT IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE FROM THEIR WEBSITE AT http://www.post-future.com/store/pgs/tes_new.html (we have no connection to this other than that we know it to be a wonderful print and want to recommend it here!)

This is a real beauty, and it was created with incredible care (see a video about the making of the prints here: http://vimeo.com/57982625)

It measures 39 x 27 inches, and can be purchased in one of three ways:
$75 unsigned, $125 signed by John Van Hamersveld, or $300 signed by BOTH Bruce Brown AND John Van Hamersveld (very limited!)

To order, visit their website at http://www.post-future.com/store/pgs/tes_new.html or call Alida Post directly at 424-224-7656
