EVERY item we auction starts at $1, with NO reserve, and NO buyers premium, and EVERY item is honestly described, with an unenhanced super-sized image!

eMoviePoster.com was founded in 1999 as the first all-movie poster auction website. We have auctioned well over 1.8 MILLION posters (movie and NON-movie), lobby cards, stills and related items through our auctions since 1999, surely the most of any online auction!

Did you know... that there are many uncredited artists of classic posters that are currently unknown?

We were asked the following excellent question:
"Do you know who the artist was who did both "Congo Crossing" and "Tanganyika" - AND - are there other films he did posters in that same style?"

     I replied as follows:
"I very much wish I did know! There was either one artist who did a lot of work for Universal at that time, or several artists who either imitated each other or who collaborated on their work. The same was true at other studios from the 1930s to the 1960s. Sadly, they were almost never allowed to sign their work, and we have been able to track down few of the artists.

This is really a shame, because many of those artists are probably still alive (and if not them, their children), so it shouldn't be that hard to track them down, if anyone cared enough to do so. I sometimes joke that more is known about who built the ancient pyramids in Egypt than is known about who drew movie posters in the 1950s!"

There is an added problem. Many well-meaning people see poster art and because it "looks" like the work of a well-known artist they sometimes put that artist as having done that art, when they have no other proof one way or the other (I recently saw a web page filled with "Reynold Brown" art, but it included a LOT by many other artists)!

This is why we at eMoviePoster NEVER attribute an artist to a poster unless the art is actually signed OR we can get evidence that is either from the artist's website or is from an expert on that artist (but even then we sometimes are led astray, as in the case of the below link about the Belgian artist "Wik"!).

If any of you reading this has verified personal information or lists about what movie poster artists did which posters, please share them with us, so we can make our website that much more complete and accurate. And of course if you EVER see any mistake on our auctions or website, please let us know right away, and we will get it corrected (the same goes for additional information you might have, like which artist drew a certain poster).

AND IF ANYONE READING THIS IS THINKING, "I would like to help, but I am too busy to take the time to do so", YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW EASY IT IS EASY TO HELP! Why do I say this? On every auction there is a link (under the condition grade, and below the link that says "Member's Area") that says "Ask a Question".

Just click where it says "Ask a Question" on any auction, and you will be taken to a "contact form" and you fill in a few fields (and those can be filled in through a drop down menu the next time you use it), and the subject of your message is pre-filled in with that auction title, so ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS MAKE YOUR COMMENT, like "Vargas art", or "the year is 1959, not 1958", or whatever, and that's all you have to do to help us! AND WE PROMISE WE WILL MAKE THE CORRECTION, BOTH ON THAT ITEM AND IN OUR DATABASE AND AUCTION HISTORY, SO WE WON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE EVER AGAIN!

We have a huge team of experts who send us corrections on a regular basis (and whom we contact when we have a question) and it is thanks to them that our listings are so complete and accurate!
