Did you know... about the incredible just-published coffee table hardcover book on Japanese Akira Kurosawa movie posters?

A wonderful Japanese collector, Yoshikazu Inoue, who has been collecting Japanese Akira Kurosawa movie posters for over THIRTY YEARS, has just published a coffee table full-color hardcover book, and it is now available for purchase!

He received full cooperation from Kurosawa Production, Toho, Shochiku, KADOKAWA, and Mifune Productions, and this allowed for the publication of this authorized book.  All the posters included are either from the author's collection (or with the help of various collectors) and most of the posters were created when the films were first released in Japan,

ALL the text, including the explanations is presented in both Japanese and English, and the author "takes pride in saying that therefore it is a book that fans of Kurosawa's films worldwide can enjoy".

Here is the press release announcing this book:

AKIRA KUROSAWA FILM POSTER COLLECTION
Release date: Wednesday, August 27th

A powerful B4-sized book! Includes Japanese original posters from the time of release for all 30 of Kurosawa's films. This dream project, which had never been published until now, has finally come true with the full cooperation of Kurosawa Productions, Toho, and other companies. From his debut film, "Sanshiro Sugata," to his last film, "Madadayo," posters created at the time of the release of all 30 of Kurosawa's directorial films are gathered together in one place. "Rashomon", "Ikiru", "Seven Samurai", "The Hidden Fortress", "Yojimbo", "High and Low", and "Red Beard" etc. The excitement and enthusiasm of the audience who saw the posters at movie theaters and on the streets at the time is brought back to life in the present day with the powerful B4-sized, full-color book.

A total of over 300 images! With the cooperation of poster collectors both in Japan and abroad, we have published a number of valuable versions, including the 1943 first release poster of "Sanshiro Sugata," which has been said to be a phantom until now, and ultra large posters at the first release of his representative works such as "Seven Samurai", "Yojimbo", and "Sanjuro" and much much more. The total number of items published is over 300! Many valuable promotional materials are also published.

A poster book that is enjoyable to read as well In addition to the posters at the time of release, many valuable promotional materials such as press sheets and lobby cards are published. From the text published at the time, this book makes it clear how Kurosawa's works were promoted at the time of their release. Text is written in both Japanese and English. In addition to the poster commentary text, all texts are written in both Japanese and English, including commentary by Akira Kurosawa researcher. It is also a perfect gift for Kurosawa fans over the world.
