Did you know... that delivery of most packages is MUCH slower than usual for many packages, but not all?
As many of you
have learned first-hand, many packages are being delivered FAR more
slowly than before the virus (and this is true for ALL delivery services,
NOT solely the Post Office).
What has changed?
1) "Guarantees" on Next Day and Second Day packages are not what they were.
Often they will say "to be delivered by 8 PM", and those always arrive the
following day.
2) Priority Mail within the U.S (and Ground UPS) which often used to take 2 to 4
days, now often takes a week, and sometimes more.
3) International Mail is the most affected. What used to take a week to 10 days
(or so) now often takes a month to six weeks.
But there is no "rhyme or reason" to any of this! Sometimes some packages are delivered exactly as they used to, even packages sent to the some address as others (so we might send 3 packages at the same time to one address, and 2 are delivered normally, and the 3rd "vanishes" for a week or two).
Speaking of "vanishing", more and more packages cease to get updated for a week to a month! This is obviously incredibly frustrating, but please know that there is nothing we can do that you can't do, EXCEPT that once 15 days or 30 days or 45 days goes by we can put in an insurance claim (depending on how and where it was sent).
So please DON'T contact us before that time, hoping we have some magic way to locate the package (and we know that your local Post Office tells you to contact us, but that is just to get rid of you). And often "wrong tracking" is entered. Your package may SHOW on the tracking that it is in "Hong Kong" or wherever, and while it may be there, it also may be that someone simply clicked the wrong button.
BUT HERE IS THE REALLY GOOD NEWS! Out of
the many thousands of packages we have sent since the virus began, only a tiny
number did not eventually show up. Here is what usually happens to
those packages that go astray:
The tracking simply stops one day. Sometimes it shows nothing
past being dropped off in West Plains.
A few weeks go by and nothing.
The customer lets us know, and on the first day we can, we
file a claim
Often, the tracking is then updated (maybe because of the
claim)
The package almost always arrives a few days later!
So PLEASE everyone try to have patience during these most trying times. We do EVERYTHING we possibly can, filing claims the first day we can. But if you email us before we can file a claim, all that does is slow things down while we are so very busy.
AND EVERYONE REMEMBER OUR OFFER TO ALL OF YOU! We WILL hold your orders indefinitely (not just the standard 12 weeks of Pay and Hold) if you live somewhere where delivery has slowed to a standstill. Just let us know that. And once things get "back to normal", we will ship your held items.
BUT PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER THAT ALL ORDERS MUST BE PAID FOR WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTIONS. We have firm rule so that all bidders can know they absolutely are bidding against bidders who will honor their bids (which is often not true in auctions other than ours).
