eMoviePoster.comDid You Know... that we have descriptions of all poster sizes on our site, as well as condition explanations?Return to Did You Know Archive Added: 06/13/2016 Newer collectors (or those who are new to bidding in our auctions) often ask us "basic" questions about poster sizes and also about how we grade our posters, and the below gives an overview of information on both subjects, as well as links on how to find a LOT of additional information on our site (which likely covers everything you could want to know, but if we missed something, please email us, so we can both answer you and get it added to our site!). Poster Types We have a page on our site where you can see a description of many common poster types and other items (such as lobby cards and stills). We don't list everything that exists because that would be thousands of different types! But this is a great beginners guide to many, many movie poster sizes (both U.S. and non-U.S.). Go here to see this page: http://www.emovieposter.com/faq/types/ These directions appear on that page to help you use this powerful tool:
Condition Grades When you are on an auction page (or an item page in our Auction History), after the condition grade and description,
there is a "(Learn More)" link that you can click on to learn more about that exact condition grade (such as "good to very good"). Additionally, after
that description, there is a link "Learn
more about condition grades", and when you click on that, you can see an overview of all condition grades. Go to this link to see a sample of
this for "one-sheets": WHY do we "grade different types of items on a slightly different scale", rather than use the exact same scale for every item? Because it just makes FAR more sense! For example, newer still and lobby card sets are almost always found in wonderful condition, while older posters (from the 1940s and earlier) almost always have at least a fair amount of defects (like tears, paper loss, tape, etc). If we used the exact same scale for both, then almost all of the newer still and lobby card sets would be graded as "fine condition", and almost all of the older posters (from the 1940s and earlier) would be graded as "fair condition", and we can't see how that helps any collector, so we adapt each item's grading scale slightly to take these factors into account.
