Why we charge what we do for shipping

It is ironic that some of our buyers tell us how pleased they are by how LITTLE we charge for shipping, and yet other of our buyers complain because they think we charge TOO MUCH for shipping!  How is this possible?  Because we charge $4 for packaging materials, and some sellers use the low quality "free" packaging materials from the Post Office, and some buyers find that we charge a couple of dollars more than another seller and they consider that too much!
On the other hand, we charge a flat rate U.S. shipping on most packages, and many customers who spend a LOT of money with us get a package that we paid $15, $20, or more to send, and we still only charge the flat shipping rate, so those customers are extremely happy!
But in any event, we KNOW we have the best packaging of any seller, and that virtually GUARANTEES that your items arrive in exactly the same condition we send them in!

We know that every buyer wants to receive his/her order promptly, and extremely well wrapped, to insure that it arrives in exactly the condition it was sent.  We use specially made boxes, Calumet containers, and double strength cardboards, and gorilla-proof tubes (for rolled items), and use reinforced paper tape to seal all packages.

Bruce has been a collector for over 40 years, and and we send packages that are wrapped the way he would like to receive them!  Here is a picture of an actual package that we sent to a buyer, next to a package that we received from a seller on eBay:

Note that the package we sent (at the left) has two pieces of double-strength cardboard placed within a Calumet container, sealed with reinforced paper tape.  The other package (on the right) consists of two cut down pieces of reused corrugated box cardboard that has been taped with brown mailing tape (note the dents in the package).

To the left is a picture of an actual tube that we sent to a buyer, next to a tube that we received from a seller on eBay along with a square "tube" that came to us from another major auction house (incidentally, it seems the owner of the posters had consigned them to the other major auction house, and when they didn't auction them after a length of time, they asked the auction to send them on to us, which they did).

Note that the tube we sent (the one on the right!) is a 4" x 30" Yazoo Mills tube, with plastic caps on both ends, sealed with both strapping tape AND reinforced paper tape

The white tube in the middle is a thin cardboard cylinder that was taped on the ends with clear tape. Note that it is dented near the top.

Unfortunately, the square "tube" the other auction house used was a lightweight single wall rectangular corrugated box, and it arrived with one side bashed, which put LOTS of creases in the posters inside. It is also interesting that the box was not long enough for the posters, so the auction added a portion of another box to the end of the first box, and taped it on.

NOW you know why we use such heavyweight tubes!

Above and below are pictures of two Priority Mail boxes we received from two different eBay sellers who only charged us "actual Post Office charges".  The choice is yours.  We hope it is worth it to you to pay a little more in shipping to insure that what you get arrives in the condition in which it was sent!
