Cool Item Of the Week: I Wanted Wings pressbookReturn to Cool Item of the Week Archive Added: 05/12/2014 As many of you know, I, Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I thought I would share one item with you each week, the type of items you almost surely have never seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES! So below is the pressbook from I Wanted Wings, the 1941 Mitchell Leisen World War II (WWII) airplane aviation military thriller ("The grandest aviation picture ever to thrill the heart of America! ... All the power, the splendor of Uncle Sam's great air armada... all the courage, the daring of the men who man the air defenses of America... brought to flaming, heart-stirring wonder on the screen in the roaring drama of four 'hot pilots' and the blonde bomber who raids their hearts."; "1,000 planes... 10,000 thrills... and one terrific blonde!"; "The thrilling saga of America's flying youth!"; "Flying Fortress crashes!"; "Flying fists!"; "Daring mid-air rescue!"; "First American air-raid!"; "Based on a story by Eleanore Griffin and Frank Wead"; "From the book, 'I Wanted Wings', by Beirne Lay Jr.") starring Ray Milland, William Holden, Wayne Morris, Brian Donlevy, Constance Moore, Veronica Lake ("Blonde bomber... she flew them into the ground!"; in her first real role; she had a few bit parts, and a few where she was billed under her real name of Constance Keane), and Harry Davenport Here is an image of the pressbook's covers and an interior spread: Each week I will showcase a different pressbook (or related item) from my collection (so in just 20,000 weeks or so, I will have shared the entire collection with you!). And remember to check out our previous Cool Items of the Week in our Cool Item of the Week archive (which is fully searchable!). ![]()
