eMoviePoster.comCool Item Of the Week: I Conquer the Sea full-color pressbookReturn to Cool Item of the Week Archive Added: 05/02/2011 As many of you know, I, Bruce Hershenson, owner of eMoviePoster.com, have collected pressbooks (and related movie paper like studio yearbooks) for over 30 years, and I have the world's foremost collection of such material. I thought I would share one item with you each week, the type of items you almost surely have never seen before, and which might not come up for sale for DECADES! This week, I have the full-color pressbook from I Conquer the Sea,the 1936 Victor Halperin romantic seafaring whale hunting melodrama starring Steffi Duna (Hungarian-born actress who appeared in a few English movies, and then came to the United States, but only made around a dozen U.S. movies; she was married to actors John Carroll and Dennis O'Keefe), Dennis Morgan, Douglas Walton, George Cleveland, Fred Warren, and Anna De Linsky. Not only is this pressbook a wonderful full color one, but it is a wonderful reminder of the days when studios lavished efforts on creating eye-popping posters that would literally drag people off the streets and into the theaters!
