About Bruce Hershenson's collection
of 238 auction catalogs
The collection of auction catalogs we are auctioning comes
from Bruce Hershenson's personal collection! When he returned to the movie
poster hobby in 1984 (after an absence of several years), he primarily
purchased posters from public auctions (until 1989, when he became a
full-time movie poster dealer). He saved all the auction catalogs from the
auctions he participated in, and would often purchase two catalogs, so that
he would have one to make notes in, and one to keep in excellent condition!
In 1990, he organized the first Christie's auction, and for the next 10
years he attempted to acquire EVERY auction catalog he could. After
2000, there were so many movie poster auctions (and the items being
auctioned were mostly repeats from earlier years) that Bruce stopped trying
to get every catalog, so his collection of catalogs mostly stopped at the
end of 2000. In addition, he purchased additional catalogs he was missing
from his collection from other collectors. Now he is auctioning all of the
238 different auction catalogs, each in its own auction. Most of them are
either from all-movie poster auctions, or are from auctions that included
some movie posters, but some are from non-movie poster auctions (but this is
always noted in the auction description). Finally, note that some of the
catalogs offered have the notes or prices realized that Bruce or another
collector wrote in, but because that is the only copy Bruce could find, it
is included in this set of auctions. These auction catalogs run from 1970 to
2000, and constitute a near complete history of the movie poster hobby at
auction, and many would be extremely difficult to find for sale at any
price, but this is a rare opportunity to purchase any of these 238 auction
catalogs!
About the 87 deluxe oversized stills
You surely know that we have auctioned many thousands
of 8" x 10" stills over the past few years. But in this set of
auctions, we offer 87 OVERSIZED stills (many are 11" x 14", but all
measure larger than 8" x 10"). THIS IS A REALLY SENSATIONAL
SELECTION OF OVERSIZED STILLS! Many are on double weight paper, many are
by name photographers like Hurrell, some have embossed photographer stamps,
and many have really wonderful images of top stars from many decades,
including lots from the 1930s! If you like oversized deluxe stills,
you are going to LOVE this group of auctions (and we wish we could
say that we would regularly auction stills like these, but they are truly
extremely rare, and we don't know when we will next be able to assemble a
similar auction).
About the heralds
and program books
Many collectors are not aware of heralds which are basically tiny posters
that were given away to theaters to entice people into that theater.
Others are not aware of program books, which were either given away to those
who bought a ticket, or more often, were sold as souvenirs in theater
lobbies. Program books are usually filled with images (sometimes
color) that are sometimes not seen anywhere else, and lots of them have much
written information about the movies.
Both of these types of items often provide one of the absolute most affordable ways of getting an
original first release item from titles that otherwise sell for "out of this
world" prices! Note that all of these items we are auctioning this week come
from longtime collectors, and included
in those collections are some extremely rare titles, and many of the items are in really excellent condition (they were either never used, or
were used once and then carefully stored away). If you spent years and
years looking for these items, you probably would not be able to find all of
the ones offered in this single set of auctions!
About the rest of this
week's items
Note that this is a "catch-all" week, where we auction
certain types of items that DO fit in our standard sized mailers, but are NOT
posters (this time it is heralds, programs, sheet music,
and some "special" items). We will occasionally auction items like these in
future catch all weeks, but they will NOT be the same exact types of items as the ones we are selling this
week (unless we get consigned more of these types, of course!). So if
you like any of the sizes and types of items we are auctioning this week,
know that we have not sold these types of items for quite some time, and we
likely will not sell them again for a long time!
One final
important note: While most of the items we are auctioning
this week are roughly 11" x 14" (either as they are, or when they are
fully folded), A FAIR NUMBER of the items (mostly some of the heralds
[but not all], and a small number of the remaining
items) are quite a bit smaller. We are
charging our standard $10 U.S. shipping this week, but if you solely
purchase those smaller items, then we will package the item(s) much
smaller, and we will only charge you the lower shipping rate (if you have
already paid the $10 U.S. shipping, we will automatically refund you the
difference between the actual lower cost and what you paid). This is
especially important if you live outside the U.S., because a smaller package
will cost far less. But of course, if you purchase smaller items along
with larger items then we will need to package them together in one of our
standard-size packages, and you will pay the $10 U.S. shipping (actual cost
elsewhere).
About the condition of the
items
Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good",
and "good", with only a few graded "fair" or lesser) along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much
a general description of the defects, and we only describe specific defects if they are
the type that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
Of course, with the items that have many pages, we could not photograph
every single page, but we often photograph both covers and an interior
two-page spread, which should surely give you an excellent idea of the
overall condition of that item. |

We accept all major credit cards via
phone at +1 (417) 256-9616 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 AM CST
to 5 PM CST except from 12 to 1 when we take lunch), via

U.S. orders with a flat rate shipping can quickly be completed via PayPal
in our
Checkout
system. At this time, PayPal is the only payment method supported by the
checkout but more payment methods and features will be added with time.
If your order requires a shipping quote and you have received your
quote, you may pay via PayPal manually to "mail@emovieposter.com",
but know that PayPal has many glitches, so you need to e-mail us separately
stating that you completed payment
Learn More.
Here are step-by-step instructions if you need help paying manually
with PayPal.
You can send a check or money order (if you do, enclose
your address and details about what you purchased) to:
Bruce Hershenson
Attn: Payments
P.O. Box 874
West Plains, MO 65775
If it is your best payment option, you
can pay by Western Union, but please don't send cash (as we can't
be responsible for lost cash).
If your order requires a
shipping quote, please request it through
our
Checkout system. Please note that we are still developing this
checkout system, so while you may request your quote using it, we do not
quite have it ready to complete payment (although we hope to have that added
soon), but payment may still be completed using whatever method you have
used in the past. If you run into any sort of problem requesting your
quotes, please e-mail
Phillip right away so we can get it addressed.

U.S. Shipping Details
U.S. buyers need to enclose $10 shipping (which includes full insurance)!
Missouri
customers: You must pay an additional 7.162% sales tax on your
purchases. If your order is sent within the state of Missouri, we MUST
collect this tax (if it is shipped to another state, we do not collect the tax).
Will your order be
shipped to you by UPS?
UPS does NOT automatically require a signature
to deliver packages, so if you want the signature to be required, you will
need to pay the extra $3.00 UPS charges for "signature required" Delivery
Confirmation, and please realize that they will then NOT leave the
package, and you may well have to go to the UPS facility yourself to pick it
up. But if you prefer this, that is fine, and if you have any other
special requirements, please tell us when you are paying for your order.
IF YOU DO NOT SPECIFY THAT YOU WANT SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEN YOUR PACKAGE
WILL BE SENT WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIRED!
You CAN usually combine shipment!
NOTE: These Tuesday items need to be sent in flat packages so...
*they
can be
combined with these auctions:
- Tuesday February 8th single lobby cards
- Thursday February 10th complete and incomplete lobby
card sets
- Sunday February 13th 'regular' Sunday auctions
- Tuesday February 15th folded one-sheets
- Thursday February 17th lots of 8" x 10" stills
- Sunday February 20th 'regular' Sunday auctions
- Thursday February 24th single 8" x 10" stills
- Sunday February 27th 'regular' Sunday auctions
- Thursday March 3rd more miscellaneous items
*they must be sent separately from
these auctions for an additional shipping charge:
- Sunday January 13th, 20th, or 27th 'bulk lot' Sunday auctions
- Tuesday February 22nd rolled non-U.S. posters
|
Note that we not only allow you to combine as many items as you want from a single
set of Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Sunday auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge for all of the items, but we also allow you to wait until
the next five sets of auctions end (a total of six sets of auctions) so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions
(if possible), and that means there
is a chance you could combine items from up to six of our sets of auctions, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package). We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do, but we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and
FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS
UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE $10 U.S. SHIPPING!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details
Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order
(you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post
Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or
Airmail), plus $2 for the best packaging materials you have ever seen.
All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or
uninsured at the time they pay for their order.
Have you heard about our Pay and Hold
Program?
This lets non-U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 4 consecutive weeks
(a total of 12 auctions and around 8,000+ items!), and we then send all your
purchases at once saving you LOTS of money! Click
HERE to learn more (if you are not one of the hundreds of our
non-U.S. buyers who are already part of this program)
Here is a chart
containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this week's
auctions
(note these are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may
vary considerably)
(Note: Insured quotes are based on a $200 value; you pay $1.60 more
for each additional $100 of insurance) |

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these
approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if
you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very
securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of
course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask
us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order. Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large
"brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it. Note that there are also
some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course
this is not legal, and we can not do this. We have outlined the
possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that
carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!
Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the
United States?
Some of our customers either
visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or relatives within the U.S., and
often those customers have us send their orders to a U.S. address, and then
they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON
SHIPPING! This is fine with us, but realize that you still need to let
us know within one week of receipt if you want to return anything, so don't
use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep your purchases.
DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (the
actual cost of shipping plus $2 outside the U.S.)!
