Gerber Cigarettes, the circa 1910s Swiss advertising poster promoting the purchase of Gerber cigarettes, and featuring Julius Klinger art of a satyr and centaur enjoying a smoke. Note that Julius Klinger was an Austrian painter, draftsman, illustrator, commercial graphic artist, typographer and writer. Being of Jewish descent, he suffered from Nazi harassment, was deported to Minsk in 1942 and presumably killed there. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Julius Klinger
Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this poster before!

Condition: good. Prior to gelbacking, the poster had several long tears and creases in the bottom of the poster, extending into the words. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to restoration. A restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material), and this was done solely for preservation purposes, and to mend the tears, but they did not restoration to the above defects. They then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The defects are clearly noticeable, so either the new owner must be able to accept them, or they could have another restorer touch up those areas, either with or without re-backing the poster.
