Really Big Bugs, the 1990s (around 1995) original art featuring Brian Clarke artwork of beachgoers fleeing from giant insects. Our consignor tells us that Really Big Bugs was a film in development at 20th Century Fox, but it never went into production. The screenplay was written by Adam Rifkin in 1995 and it was a 1950s horror/monster B-movie spoof. The artwork was commissioned to create a sales flyer in order to entice potential international film distribution companies to purchase the distribution rights for this yet unmade movie at film markets such as Cannes, the American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA, etc. Brian Clarke used art from Ben Hur and Them! as his inspiration for this item. He has become a well known illustrator and painter known as Les Toil, and his published works involve clients including National Lampoon Magazine, Arista Records, Gearhead Magazine, Norton Books, and more. Adam Rifkin wrote and directed The Chase (with Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson), Denial (with Patrick Dempsey and Jason Alexander), as well as The Dark Backward (with Judd Nelson, Bill Paxton, and Lara Flynn Boyle). He wrote the screenplays for Small Soldiers (with Kirsten Dunst, Tommy Lee Jones, and Phil Hartman), as well as Mouse Hunt (starring Nathan Lane and Christopher Walken).
