An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Behind the Mask, the 1946 Phil Karlson crime mystery thriller starring Kane Richmond (as "The Shadow"), Barbara Read (billed as "Barbara Reed"), George Chandler, Dorothea Kent, and Joseph Crehan. Note that there had been some movies with The Shadow in the 1930s, and a movie called "The Shadow" in 1940. After a six year gap, they decided to resume the series with a new star, but they still called the movie "The Shadow Returns", and there were two more entries in the series that same year. This is the second entry!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: fair. The poster is in much lesser condition. There are several defects scattered along the edges and foldlines/crossfolds and there are several significant areas of foldline and/or crossfold separation. Many of the defects have been repaired with tape from the back that bleed through to (and ripple) portions of the front. It has discoloration throughout due to exposure to moisture and marker writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at upper center as well as some other defects that can be clearly seen in our super-sized image. The poster is in urgent need of restoration. Certainly a top restorer can repair the defects described above, and after, the poster will display really well, but please bear in mind the poster's many defects and the cost of restoration before placing a bid.
