An Original Vintage French Exhibitor Magazine (measures 9 3/4" x 12 1/2" [25 x 32 cm]; 147 pages) (Learn More) La Critique Cinematographique (literally translates to "Film Criticism "), the French exhibitor magazine sold to theater owners in France in the 1930s (at least), filled with ads from French studios advertising their current releases. The only issue of this magazine we have ever auctioned is from October 1, 1932 (No 292), which has 147 pages, but approximately two-thirds of the magazine is devoted to reprinting the 1933 studio yearbook for OSSO Films. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Roger Cartier (cover art) Important Added Info: Note that, like in the U.S. at this time, some French studios apparently paid to have their campaign book included in an issue of this magazine (we say apparently, because this is the only such French exhibitor magazine we have ever auctioned). This magazine contains the 1933 studio yearbook for OSSO Films, who, at this time, employed Annabella, Charles Boyer, director Marcel L'Herbier, among many others, and they even made cartoons , which had French characters we are unfamiliar with! Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and also pictures of one or more interior two-page spreads (but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine. Please realize that sometimes there were only a few ads in each magazine, and sometimes quite a few, but that often the bulk of each magazine is taken up by stories about current productions and other information of interest to theater owners (and I don't know that this information can be found anywhere else or that it has been reproduced in any book since its first publication!). Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided.
