An Original Vintage Linenbacked French Circus Poster (measures 51" x 81 1/2") (Learn More)

The Cirque Pinder is a French circus which was founded in 1854 in England by the brothers William and George Pinder. Originally, it was called the Britannia Circus after the name of the ship whose sails were used to make the marquee. After changes of ownership, it was established in France in 1904 and toured from February to October before arriving in Paris for an end-of-year celebration.
Artist: Atelier Faria

Condition: fair. The poster had areas of paper loss in the bottom border and darkening, creases, and tears on parts of many foldlines. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone linenbacked the poster without doing any restoration of any sort. At some point after it was backed, the poster became wet at the top and bottom, and that has caused the poster and the linen to be water stained and severely rippled in some areas at the top and bottom of the poster. Certainly, one would hope the new owner of this poster will have it removed from the damaged linen and properly restored and re-backed!
