An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 15" x 22" [38 x 56 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, the classic 1935 Lew Landers (billed as "Louis Friedlander") Universal horror thriller (VERY loosely based on the famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe; about a crazy plastic surgeon who saves a girl's life, but is rejected by her so he mutilates the face of a criminal to have him kidnap the girl after which he promises to restore the criminal's face!) starring Boris Karloff ("The uncanny master of make-up in a new amazing shocker"), Bela Lugosi (billed as "Bela 'Dracula' Lugosi"), Irene Ware, Lester Matthews, Inez Courtney, Samuel S. Hinds, and Ian Wolfe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Condition: poor, WITH CUTS. This is an 8-page pressbook, and the pages were all separated from each other and someone put tape down the spine of several of the pages, and the front cover was kept separate from the rest of the pressbook (no doubt because someone framed it by itself). They also put tape along the back of the center of the front cover where it had separated and on the center of page 3. Pages 1, 2, 3, and 4 are complete, but pages 5, 6, 7, and 8 have significant areas cut out of each, which greatly affects the poster page (none of the poster images are complete). The person who owned this pressbook located another example and made copies of the missing areas and taped them to the last four pages. Obviously, one would much prefer that this pressbook was not cut and that it did not have any tape or its other defects, but it is true that you can't find this pressbook except for lots of money, and original movie paper on this title is even more expensive, so the new owner of this pressbook can do as the previous owner did, and frame the front cover, and they will have a 1935 Raven movie paper item on their wall!
