An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card #5 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Apartment, the 1960 Billy Wilder (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic melodrama ("Movie-wise, there has never been anything like 'The Apartment' love-wise, laugh-wise or otherwise-wise!"; "Written by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond"; "A Billy 'Some Like It Hot' Wilder production"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; a surprisingly downbeat movie about a young unmarried executive at a company who starts rising up when he starts letting married executives use his apartment for extra-marital affairs) starring Jack Lemmon (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Shirley MacLaine (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Fred MacMurray, Ray Walston, Edie Adams (as Miss Olsen), Naomi Stevens, Hope Holiday, and Jack Kruschen (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Dr. Dreyfuss). This was also the last black & white movie to win the Academy Award until "Schindler's List" in 1993, followed by "The Artist" in 2011!

Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by Billy Wilder! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Note that this card comes to us from a collector who purchased them from a long time autograph collector who attended many shows and events on both coasts, obtaining autographs from celebrities in person. That autograph collector found out where Billy Wilder lived in Los Angeles, and he went to the building and asked the doorman if he could leave a package for Mr. Wilder (it contained a bunch of lobby cards, with a letter asking him to sign them). The doorman misunderstood what he was asking, and he called up to Mr. Wilder, who came down and met the collector and signed all the cards for him! Our consignor (and we) feel certain this autograph is authentic!

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: very good to fine. There are two tiny pinholes in the upper and lower right edge of the inset image. Otherwise, the card is in excellent condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
