Original Vintage Comic Book, slabbed by CGC (Learn More)

Spider-Man is a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962 for Marvel Comics. Stan Lee thought of the name, told Jack Kirby to draw a story with that character, and then Lee didn't like it and asked Steve Ditko to do it instead. Ditko's version is drastically different from Kirby's, and it appears that most of Stan Lee's contribution to the creation was the name, and this is one of the most highly contested subjects in the comic book hobby! In the original comic series ("The Amazing Spider-Man"), Spider-Man is the alias of Peter Parker, an orphan raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in New York City. His origin story has him acquiring spider-related abilities after a bite from a radioactive spider. Marvel has also published books featuring alternate versions of Spider-Man, including Miles Morales, who takes up the mantle of Spider-Man after Peter Parker's supposed death. The Spider-Man character has appeared in various television shows, books and multiple successful movies.
Important Added Info: This may be one of the only chances for an average person to own this most historic comic book, as I am starting it at one dollar with no reserve. I trust that there will be sufficient interest in it to cause it to sell for a considerable amount, especially since I am including a FREE set of 29 movie poster books (see below).

Condition: good to very good. CGC Universal Grade: VG 4.0 (Off-White Pages). See below for a scanned image of both the front and back covers of the comic book in the CGC case. If you would like to see a higher quality scan of each, go to . Those of you who have been in comics a very long time will recognize the name "Bruce Hershenson". From 1967 to 1976 I was a full-time comic book collector, dealer, and publisher. I published the VERY first EC comic book reprints (from 1972 to 1975). In 1976, I left the hobby (which at that time had around 5,000 collectors in it!). In 1989 I became a full-time movie poster dealer, and since then have sold more movie posters than anyone in the world! I have also published 31 full-color books of movie poster reproductions, some of which served as auction catalogs, and some of which are reference books. Altogether, they are a comprehensive guide to the best movie posters ever made (go to my "About Me" page for complete information about these books). I will give the buyer of this The Amazing Spider-Man #1 a complete set of 29 of the books (two are completely sold out) absolutely free (if they live in the U.S.; outside the U.S., the buyer will need to pay shipping). The 29 books have a combined retail of $614.99!
