Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release Japanese B2 poster, which has a great different image of Audrey Hepburn! We can only find it ever having sold at one other auction, 7 years ago (for $1,912), and that was a different example from this poster. This example was purchased by our consignor in Japan a number of years ago, and he had it restored by Fourth Cone Restoration (see below). We do not know of this image appearing on any other Breakfast at Tiffany's poster from any country!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tape on each corner that was roughly removed, causing paper loss in the two bottom corners and the top right corner, slightly affecting the small letters there. It also had some small tears next to the small paper loss. It had been attached to a wall with other pieces of tape in the borders, and there was a horizontal snipe that measured 1 1/2" wide that was taped over the middle of the poster, mostly covering the area where Hepburn's chin is, and there was a tape stain at the left and right ends of that snipe, and the poster had darkened underneath the snipe. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Our consignor gave the poster to Fourth Cone Restoration, and they did a really wonderful job restoring it, and they bleached the poster to remove the discoloration caused by the snipe in the middle, and they used the image from the only other auctioned example of this poster to recreate the little bits of tiny writing in the bottom corners that were missing. The poster has had the restoration described above, but it displays really well, and the restoration is only noticeable from close up, and this incredibly rare and desirable poster will display really well on the new owner's wall!
