Date Sold 9/27/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Cecil B. DeMille was a legendary director from the 1910s to the 1950s. What makes him so remarkable is that he made some of the very first great movies, including "The Squaw Man" in 1914, but he was one of the only great silent directors to have no trouble transitioning to sound, and he made great movies in the sound era, even into the 1950s! Some of his movies include: The Ten Commandments, The Greatest Show on Earth, and Samson and Delilah. Of course, he also had a memorable acting role in Billy Wilder's "Sunset Boulevard" in 1950 (he did a great job, but it was made easier because he was playing himself!). He passed away in 1959 at the age of 77. Important Added Info: Note that this still was created to show that DeMille had hired a famous recent divorcee, Nan Pierson Brooks Macy, to play a role in The Crusades. It seems likely she was not an actress at all, because she does not appear in the credits! Also note that this key book still is on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock (we think it is highly likely this was a key book still, and that someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the top of the still, no doubt so it could be put in a frame). Condition: very good. There is red pen writing in the top blank border and a faint crease in the top center background area (mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light), but the still is otherwise in pretty nice condition!
