An Original Vintage Special Exhibitor Magazine (measures 11" x 16 1/4" [28 x 41 cm]; 29 pages) (Learn More) Box-Office Faces Set Box-Office Paces, the Fox 1931-32 special exhibitor magazine ("Finder of Faces"; "Setter of Paces") published by Fox in 1931 to promote how many great new stars the studio had signed in that year. We have never seen a special exhibitor magazine like this before! The inside front cover mentions there are 48 movies set for 1931-32, including the ones with Humphrey Bogart, and then most of the magazine consists of full-page ads on single-sided newsprint pages promoting each of their stars, with a cool image of the star, a "Roll of Roles", and a biography of that star! Some of the many stars included are Will Rogers, Warner Baxter, El Brendel, Myrna Loy, Victor McLaglen, Maureen O'Sullivan, George O'Brien, and Spencer Tracy. There are two pages at the back of the magazine with 22 small images of "other contract players", and biographies of them, and included is Humphrey Bogart and 21 others, including stars on the way up and stars on the way down (and unfortunately, Fox did not recognize that one of their actors, Humphrey Bogart, was "on the way up", and they let him slip away, which surely was one of the great blunders of all time!). Because the pages of this magazine are printed on newsprint and are single-sided (like pressbooks of this time), we strongly suspect that they wanted newspapers and theater owners to run biographies of these stars (with these images) as "news stories"! This special exhibitor magazine is incredibly rare. Important Added Info: Note that we are also currently auctioning the Fox 1931-32 campaign book, in a separate auction. Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and also pictures of many interior two-page spreads (but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine. Condition: fair to good. All the pages have light water staining in the bottom left and top left, but it does not affect very many images or writing at all, and none of the pages are stuck together. The last page has other scattered water stains, and the cover has scattered small stains (see our images). The entire magazine was folded in half. Learn More about condition grades
