Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, the 1971 Melvin Van Peebles black African American blaxploitation crime thriller ("You Bled My Momma - You Bled My Poppa - But You Wont Bleed Me"; "Rated X by an all-white jury"; considered to be the first 'blaxploitation' movie as it preceded 'Shaft' by a few months!) starring Melvin Van Peebles (in the title role as Sweetback), Simon Chuckster, Hubert Scales, John Dullaghan, and West Gale. Note that most reference sites refer to this movie's title as being "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song", but the first release U.S. posters we have seen all refer to it simply as "Sweet Sweetback". It WAS released in some non-U.S. countries under the longer title. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
