An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 40 1/2" x 77 1/2") (Learn More) Hurdy Gurdy, the 1929 Hal Roach comedy short ("Hal Roach presents his All Stars in their new All Talking Comedy Whirl"; "A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Talking Picture") starring Max Davidson, Nellie V. Nichols, Edgar Kennedy, Thelma Todd, Eddie Dunn, Oscar Apfel, Ann Brody, Aileen Carlyle, May Milloy, Tony Campanaro and Gertrude Messinger. Note that the IMDb credits Leo McCarey as both the writer and director of this all-star comedy short, and we accepted this, but we have been notified by the foremost authority on Hal Roach, Dick Bann, that the IMDb is completely incorrect, and that in fact Roach DID direct the movie (and he tells us that he both talked to Roach about the movie, and that he owns photos that depict Roach directing the movie). We apologize for having passed on this IMDb error, and we learned long ago that there are many errors scattered throughout the IMDb, especially on "older" movies. We very much thank Dick Bann for giving us this chance to correct this error! Also note that this was a 20 minute short, and yet MGM produced a lavish full-color full artwork three-sheet for this short subject, quite unusual for a comedy short (but perhaps a sign of how important Hal Roach was to MGM at the time with the great success of his "Our Gang" Rascals!) The poster had very tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and the most minor of fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in fine condition prior to linenbacking.
