An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) John Barrymore was an actor of the 1910s to the 1940s, widely considered to be the finest stage actor of his time! He is also well remembered for his many movies, including: the 1919 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the 1920 version of Sherlock Holmes, Twentieth Century, Counselor at Law, Dinner at Eight, and Grand Hotel. He was nicknamed "The Great Profile". His brother Lionel, and his sister Ethel, were also extremely accomplished stage and movie actors, and they appeared in a single movie together, Rasputin and the Empress. He had a tumultuous private life, and fought alcoholism, and was married four times. He is the father of John Drew Barrymore, and the grandfather of Drew Barrymore. He passed away in 1942 at the age of 60 AND Dolores Costello (also known as Dolores Costello Barrymore) was an actress from the 1900s to the 1940s. Some of her movies include: The Magnificent Ambersons, Old San Francisco, Little Lord Fauntleroy, and the Show of Shows. She was the daughter of Maurice Costello, an early film star, and she co-starred with and was married to actor John Barrymore for seven years (who said when he first saw her, "I have just seen the most beautiful woman in the world. I shall not rest or eat until I see her again."). Her son was John Barrymore, Jr. (John Drew Barrymore) and her granddaughter is Drew Barrymore. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 75. Important Added Info: Note that this cool still shows John Barrymore and his wife with their newly born son. He is referred to as "John Blythe Barrymore" on the back of the still, but actually his full name at birth was "John Sidney Blythe Barrymore Jr." (at some point he changed his stage name to "John Drew Barrymore", perhaps because of his ancestor named John Drew, a famous stage actor, or perhaps because he no longer wanted to be "John Barrymore Jr."). Also note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Condition: very good. The still has changed to a lighter color, but is otherwise in really nice condition!
