An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" Movie Still (Learn More)

Sing Me a Love Song, the 1937 Ray Enright romantic musical comedy (a wacky story about the heir to a department store, who happens to be a wonderful singer, and he is called back to help save the store, and he finds all kinds of problems, but of course, he fixes them at the end) starring James Melton, Patricia Ellis, Hugh Herbert, Zasu Pitts, Allen Jenkins, Nat Pendleton, and Ann Sheridan. Note that this movie has a great mystery about it! Ann Sheridan is credited as being in the movie, which would have been her first for Warner Bros., where she became a giant star a few years later. She is said to have played the lead actor's fiancee, who fades away early in the movie. But in existing prints of the movie, she is nowhere to be seen! There seems to be only two possibilities. One is that she was cut out of the movie before it was released, and the other would be that the existing prints are cut versions (probably from when the movie played in 1940s double bills). Since we have seen the pressbook, we know she was still billed at that time, but it is possible that her part was cut out after the pressbook was created. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
