An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More)

Blonde Venus, the classic 1932 Josef von Sternberg woman-sacrifices-all-including-her-integrity-for-her-sick-husband-who-turns-on-her romantic melodrama starring Marlene Dietrich, Herbert Marshall, Cary Grant, Gene Morgan, Dickie Moore, Francis Sayles, and Sidney Toler (in an early 9th billed role). Note that this was one of the seven movies that Dietrich made with director von Sternberg, and it is one of the best remembered, after "The Blue Angel" (which was the only one of the seven which was not a U.S. movie, because von Sternberg made it in Germany, in both languages).

Condition: good to very good. At some point, the still was lightly glued to a stiff brown paper back (it is glued along the top and bottom 1" of the still only and not at all in the rest of the still). Someone tried to remove the still by hand, and caused a 1" tear in the right of the bottom border, at which point they wisely stopped. Because the still is only partially glued, you can see that there is a long paragraph typed on the bottom of the back of the still, which identifies the movie as well. There are some remnants of some foreign language newspaper articles glued to the back of the brown paper. Any restorer (or talented amateur) could surely remove the still from the backing, and repair the small tear with conservation tape. There is some faint smudging in the solid black background areas, but none in Dietrich's figure.
