An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

A Kiss in a Taxi, the 1927 Clarence G. Badger silent Roaring '20s romantic love triangle slapstick comedy ("From Clifford Grey's adaption of play by Maurice Hennequin & Pierre Veber"; a wild story of a waitress in love with a poor artist, and she stumbles into a taxi with a rich man in it, and many complications ensue, but everything works out in the end) starring Bebe Daniels, Chester Conklin, Douglas Gilmore, Henry Kolker, and Richard Tucker. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only sold a one-sheet, and an Australian daybill from this movie (and the one-sheet was 23 years ago!) until we received this insert! Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Also note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thinner paper backing, it COULD be sent rolled, but we would MUCH prefer to send it in a large flat package (because we fear that rolling it, even into a wide tube, would have an excellent change of damaging it, so we will only send it in a tube if the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage), but otherwise, we will ship it in a large flat package, so bear that expense in mind before bidding on this poster.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster originally started out as two posters! Our consignor had two examples of this poster, but one was heavily damaged at the bottom, and the other had some damage at the top, so a very talented restorer took the better "half" from each example and then joined them together into a single poster, and then performed restoration to the defects (I have seen other examples of this!). Prior to paperbacking, the top of the poster had scuffs and paper loss to the right of the title, affecting the right of the "A" and some at the left of the title, affecting the top of the "A" and the quotation marks next to it. There was small paper loss in Daniels' chest next to the "B" and small paper loss in her cheek and forehead, with a pinhole near her mouth. There was some paper loss in the Paramount logo and the credits above it. There were some pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges and some creases and smudges scattered in the image. Overall, the two posters that were combined to make this one poster (see above) were in fair condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
