Stahl silent romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the play by Jose Echegaray y Eizaguirre; about a handsome young Latin man who lives with his much older guardian, and things get complicated fast when the guardian marries a beautiful young woman, and she can't resist his young ward!) starring Ramon Novarro, Alice Terry, Edward Martindel, Edward Connelly, George K. Arthur, and Lillian Leighton. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. AND Rookies, the 1927 Sam Wood silent military slapstick comedy (made after the success of "Behind the Front" with Wallace Beery and Raymond Hatton, this movie also had a large man and a small man in a screwball military setting, and it was a huge success, leading to a long time pairing of the two stars) starring George K. Arthur, Karl Dane, Marceline Day, Louise Lorraine, Frank Currier, and E.H. Calvert. Note that Karl Dane and George K. Arthur appeared in two of the same movies in the mid-1920s, and then in 1927, MGM paired the huge Dane with the diminutive Arthur as a comedy team in this film, and they were a huge hit, and over the next four years, they appeared in a total of 17 comedies as a Laurel & Hardy-like slapstick comedy team. But Dane had a very thick accent, and he could not make the transition to sound movies, and he had a few bit parts given to him by friends, but by 1934, he was washed up, and he bought a hot dog cart which he displayed outside of the MGM gates! Apparently, he reasonably found this extremely depressing, and he soon committed suicide. The following year, Arthur retired from movies and became a Broadway producer among other careers, and he lived until 1985, when he was 86 years old! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this English double crown measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]. Condition: good to very good.
