Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More)

The Twelve Chairs, the 1970 Mel Brooks treasure-hunting-across-post-Revolution-Russia adventure screwball comedy ("A wild and hilarious chase for a fortune in jewels.") starring Ron Moody ("Unforgettable as 'Fagin' in 'Oliver!'"), Dom DeLuise, Frank Langella, Mel Brooks ("as Tikon"), and Andreas Voutsinas. Note that this was a remake of a 1969 Italian movie called "Una su 13". IMDb says that this Italian movie was released in the U.S. in 1970, but we can only find newspaper ads from Canada, many of which have the bad taste to promote this silly comedy as "her last film" (before she was brutally murdered by Charles Manson's followers) and "her smiling eyes haunt us, not her tragic fate". Mel Brooks bought the rights to this Italian movie and he made this American version of it in 1970. Also, note that there were an amazing 25 (at least) different movie and TV adaptations based on this same novel by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeni Petrov, with the first in 1933. At first, there were 13 chairs, but at some point, they lowered that to 12, and the remaining movie adaptations had 12! Surely this must be close to some sort of record for most adaptations for a non-classic novel!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that there are two versions known of this one-sheet, both with the same image. One is a black and white poster, and the other is this poster, which has two colors and is clearly more desirable!

Condition: fine. There are minor creases in the vertical foldline, tiny separation at the bottom crossfold, and minor ink pad bleed through in the lower right blank border.
