An Original Unfolded German Music Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 37 1/4" [70 x 95 cm]) (Learn More) The Comedian Harmonists were an internationally famous, all-male German close harmony ensemble that performed between 1928 and 1934 as one of the most successful musical groups in Europe before World War II. The group consisted of Harry Frommermann, Asparuh 'Ari' Leschnikoff, Erich Collin, Roman Cycowski, Robert Biberti, and Erwin Bootz (on the piano). The hallmark of the Comedian Harmonists was its members' ability to blend their voices together so that the individual singers could appear and disappear back into the vocal texture. However, as three of members were either Jewish or of Jewish descent (and another was married to a Jewish woman), the Nazi's began to censor and threaten them. They traveled to the U.S. to escape the Nazis, but could not stay and the group eventually disbanded. However, given the age of the paper and the quality of the printing, we think it is a certainty that this is the 1930 original, and NOT the 1970 reprint. Condition: very good to fine.
