An Original Vintage German Campaign Book (measures 9" x 11 1/2" [23 x 29 cm]; 64 pages) (Learn More) Universal 1954-55, the 1954 German campaign book sent by Universal to German theater owners to try to get them to book their upcoming movies. The book is softcover and spiral-bound, but otherwise resembles a U.S. campaign book of this time, except, of course, that it is entirely in German! The German Universal branch did something really cool with this book. All of the pages are 2-page spreads for each movie, and a few of them have 4 inch flaps on either the left or right side, which open up and give more information about that movie under the flap. The book contains great two-page ads for upcoming Universal movies, most notably Creature From the Black Lagoon and This Island Earth, and others include The Far Country, Magnificent Obsession, and many more. Not only is this book incredibly rare, but so are all German campaign books from any year, but especially from the German branches of U.S. studios (we have only ever auctioned one other German campaign book from a U.S. studio, and that one was from Warner Bros. in 1950-51). Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, prior to this, we had only ever auctioned one German campaign book from a U.S. studio. Now we have been consigned TWO from Universal International, this one from 1954-55, and also one from 1953-54, which is in a separate auction. Condition: good to very good. Both covers have creases in the right side. The first interior page has many faint brown stains and some of the interior pages have a few faint brown stains (see our images).
