Star Wars (now known as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope"), the classic 1977 George Lucas (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) outer space fantasy action adventure science fiction (sci-fi) epic ("A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."; "George Lucas, the man who brought you American Graffiti now brings you an adventure as big as the cosmos itself: Star Wars, the story of a boy, a girl, and a universe. It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen)

Important Added Info: Note that when Star Wars: Episode I was made in 1999, it meant that the original 1977 Star Wars had to be re-titled Star Wars: Episode IV! So the existing 35mm prints had the "opening crawl" (the part that starts with the Star Wars title and goes through the star destroyer passing overhead) removed, and replaced with a new crawl that had the title with "Episode IV" after it. So that meant that the original opening crawls had been removed from the prints and were no longer needed. Our consignor obtained this discarded opening crawl from an original release 35mm print of Star Wars that had the Episode IV crawl added. It is 35mm scope Eastman film stock. It is definite that this is from 1977, because Eastman Kodak changed the markings on their film every single year from 1922 on, and this film has the correct single square marking for 1977! We have added four images to this auction. One shows the Kodak date code chart, and the other three are images of part of the crawl, showing the correct marking, and showing that it reads "Star Wars" and not "Star Wars: Episode IV". So the winner of this auction will receive this 35mm film, which contains the 35mm scope opening crawl removed from a 1977 print of Star Wars (see our images)!

Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction!

This item is one of the additional 117 items that we were consigned from other collectors. They REALLY came through with wonderful additional items that really add to the overall auction! If you are interested in knowing more about the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction, CLICK HERE to read a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection!

Condition: very good. As noted above, this film was removed from a 1977 35mm scope print of Star Wars. In the case of this film, it was consigned to us by a film collector, who DOES have the ability to examine the film, and he tells us that it has "some natural fade, but NO vinegar syndrome", and we stand behind what he says!
