An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Elke Sommer (born Elke Schletz) is a sexy blonde German actress from the 1950s to the present. She was born in 1940 and her father was a Lutheran minister, but sadly he died when she was just 14. Her mother let her go to England when she was just 16 to be an au pair to an actress, and the following year director Vittorio De Sica discovered her and she was in movies when she was 17. Some of her movies include: A Shot in the Dark, The Victors, The Prize, The Wrecking Crew, and The Money Trap. She memorably had pictorials in the September 1964 and December 1967 issues of Playboy magazine. She moved back to Germany in the 1980s, and continued to act there, in both movies and on TV.
